Indy 500

Karen | attractions | Wednesday, 23 May 2007

If you go to Indianapolis for the [tag]Indy 500[/tag] this weekend, please remember that there is construction on I70. You might want to allow more time if you are coming in on I70. It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend for the race. Don’t forget to take a cooler with bottled water so you don’t have to crawl over the other fans. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen.

Pirates of the Carribbean Movie

Karen | news | Monday, 21 May 2007

Does anyone know when the next [tag]Pirates of the Carribean[/tag] movie is coming out? I need my [tag]Jack Sparrow[/tag] fix. I have seen a few commercials but haven’t been able to tell when it will be in the theaters.

Don’t ya just love flip flops?

Karen | news | Saturday, 19 May 2007

My sis sent me a letter that involves [tag]flip flops[/tag]! My niece, Emily, is involved in a [tag]flip flop[/tag] exchange. The letter asks me to send a pair of flip flops to the person whose name is at the top of the list and then add my name to the list and send the letter to six people. If everyone participates, I will get 36 pair of flip flops for the price of the one pair I bought and mailed! Fun, fun, fun!

If you would like to participate in the [tag]flip flop exchange[/tag] please let me know. I need six people who love flip flops. You would be sending a pair of flip flops to my niece.

Thanks.

Zurich

Continuation of our trip to Europe in 1976

After going back to the airport to retrieve our passports we checked in at the Hotel Bristol. It was a beautiful hotel with lots of stairs. In 1976 our luggage didn’t have the handy rollers that today’s bags all have.

We headed out to shop until our room was ready. We also hunted for the bottled water everyone warned us to drink. When I asked the girl at the reception desk where to find bottled water she was so surprised and asked, “Why aren’t you drinking our [tag]water[/tag]? What’s wrong with me? I’m healthy!” So, from then on we drank the water everywhere. We also drank [tag]Pepsi[/tag] and coffee but it was expensive. Most everywhere we stayed, breakfast was included. It was usually hard rolls and coffee or hot chocolate.

Islamic Radicals

Karen | news | Tuesday, 08 May 2007

Six “Islamic radicals” involved in a plot to [tag]kill U.S. soldiers[/tag] at Fort Dix in New Jersey were arrested Monday night, the U.S. Attorney’s office in [tag]New Jersey[/tag] said Tuesday.

This just makes me ill. My daughter is in the [tag]military[/tag]. She is not at [tag]Fort Dix[/tag] but someone’s son or daughter is.

Get A Playground

Karen | blogging | Saturday, 05 May 2007

I have a few tech sites I visit on a regular basis. Over at InvestorBlogger, I learn so much. One of his best ideas is to have a playground or a separate play area for trying out [tag]plugins[/tag] in [tag]themes[/tag]. After trying a few and basically having to start over with my [tag]blog[/tag], I am going to do this. I’ve had too many scares of messing up my blog and trying to figure out how to get it back. Having a playground would allow me to test things to make sure they work before implementing them in my blog. WTG Kenneth! Brilliant!

Answers to Sindy’s Questions

Karen | blogging | Saturday, 05 May 2007

While reading Sindy’s blog I saw where she was interviewed by a fellow reader. This is such a great “get to know you” meme. When Sindy asked if anyone would like to be interviewed by her I raised my hand.

She asked me these questions.

1. If you had to pick ONE thing that you admire most about each of your kids,
what would it be? Stacy: her physical strength, Greg: his ability to speak in front of people

2. Do you ever plan on closing the store or do you think you’ll sell it and
move? We would like to retire some day but we enjoy spending money! So it’s iffy if we will ever get to retire. Luckily, hubby loves his work. I’d get into trouble if I wasn’t tied to this job! LOL

3. If you could move anywhere in the US and your family (mom, sisters, kids all
of them) would move there too, where would you move to? I think we would all love to live near Myrtle Beach. That’s where I would go.

4. If you were starting college today, what would you major in? I would major in dentistry.

5. What is your favorite memory of when Greg and Stacy were kids? (It can be
one memory for each, or a “family” memory.) I remember when we brought Greg home from the hospital and Stacy leaned over the bassinet and read a book to him. I caught it on film.

That was fun Sindy! Thanks for interviewing me.

Zurich, Switzerland

Karen | travel | Thursday, 03 May 2007

On Tuesday August 10, 1976, we arrived in [tag]Zurich, Switzerland[/tag] at 6:00 am. We walked through the airport to find transportation to our hotel. We hopped onto a bus and waited to depart. All of a sudden, hubby got very nervous and began patting his pockets. He had left our passports and all of our travelers checks on a counter in the [tag]airport [/tag]. We never ran so fast in all our lives. Got to the counter and, amazingly, all our things were still there. OMG! It could have been so bad. Right then and there we divided things amongst us. We also put some [tag] travelers checks [/tag] in our luggage instead of carrying everything on us. I held onto my own [tag]passport [/tag].
