Site for Pet Health Information

Karen | news | Friday, 29 June 2007

I was concerned that Elsie, our Boston Terrier, had flea bites. I wasn’t sure so I started checking on the Internet. I found a wonderful website that was set up specifically for pet owners. Pet Health Wiki has information on pet health. An awesome feature of the site is that it is user editable! Someone might notice that some very valuable information is missing from the site. They can add that information so the rest of us pet lovers can benefit.
The site is very easy to use. I clicked on dog health and there were at least 100 different issues to click on. I clicked on the dog fleas category and checked for the information I needed.

I wasn’t sure if what she had were flea bites so I did some reading. I found out that since she wasn’t scratching or digging at the spot that it probably wasn’t fleas that made the spot red. It gave me some great information on how to keep our dogs from getting fleas. Now I know what to do if they ever do get fleas or any other affliction.

This site is definitely going into my favorites. I think I will contribute my experience with what to do when a dog eats an ant trap. Hopefully, my information will be valuable for someone else.

Allegheny Mountains

Karen | news | Thursday, 28 June 2007

allegheny-mtns-in-west-verginia-on-trip-to-nc-thurs.jpgOur trip to North Carolina was amazing. The beauty of the Allegheny mountains takes my breath away. We saw many deer along the way. Their tails were flippin’ as they appeared to not have a care in the world. They looked like mountain goats standing on the ledges of the mountains. We saw a sign to watch for bears but we didn’t see any bears.

An Amazing Band

Please click on this to go and view an awesome banner where you can watch The Police’s videos, listen to tracks from The Police’s new 2 cd hits collection, enter to win a trip to NYC to see The Police in concert and even view details about their current world tour.

The amazing group, The Police, released a 2 disc compilation CD on June 5th. If you don’t think you remember The Police, you will after you hear the songs on this great CD. Many of my favorites are included on the new Police Cd and I will definitely be adding it to my collection. My favorite song is Every Breath You Take. I also enjoy the rhythm of Roxanne. Stewart Copeland is the most amazing drummer. What an amazing showcase of talent! The blending of reggae with rock set this band apart from the run of the mill boy bands. Andy William’s talent is highlighted as he makes putty out of his guitar. When you visit their website, you can see a listing of all the tracks on the CD. There is even a Jukebox link that you can use to listen to a few of their most popular hits like “Don’t Stand So Close To Me.”
Look at this amazing group of songs!

Oldest Car

Karen | attractions | Wednesday, 27 June 2007

There is an oddity in Pebble Beach, California. The oldest car, at least the oldest that still runs will be sold at an auction there. Built for Count De Dion of France, this car has only had two owners. Count De Dion was one of the founders of the manufacturing company.
The car was built in France in 1884, about a year before Gottlieb Daimler and Otto Benz of Germany built their first experimental gasoline-powered cars (The two were working independently of one another.) Henry Ford, the man many Americans mistakenly believe invented the automobile, built his first car 12 years after this one.

I doubted that this car was older than the one invented by Henry Ford. That is until I read that the curator of transportation for the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Mich., agreed that the De Dion-Bouton is, quite possibly, the oldest running automobile. I guess if the curator, Bob Casey says it’s true, I will believe it.

10 planets, not the inventor of the auto, what will be next.

Equity Allows Growth

Karen | travel | Tuesday, 26 June 2007

As we traveled through the country on our way to North Carolina, I was able to see many styles of homes and gain a sense of what my style is. Home equity loans have allowed many home owners to add on and update their homes to accommodate larger families as the grandchildren begin to arrive on the scene. I am so satisfied with what we have been able to accomplish with our large room with all of it’s windows. It is a joy to have.

Blogging About Things We Love

Karen | blogging,travel | Monday, 25 June 2007

It never fails to amaze me how helpful fellow internet bloggers are to each other. For example, Adam at ah ok lah is giving reviews of blogs that are wanting his great ideas on how they can improve their blogs. I hope I have a thick enough skin because I would really appreciate a review of my new blog here at My Road.

Visit Adams blog and see what a Page rank 4 blog looks like. I can’t wait to get a page rank on this blog. I love to talk about travel and hope to get more readers who will tell me about places they’ve been. When you visit a new place, it is easy to get caught up in the tourist traps and really never see the city or place for the real value it holds.

We are in Elizabeth City, NC this weekend and because our B & B hosts gave us such great ideas on places to see, we were able to get a real feel for the historical and architectural value of this great place. They also helped us avoid some real traffic jams!

Gadgets and Technology

Karen | news | Tuesday, 19 June 2007

If you are interested in finding a gadget, you should check out Abhishek Krishnan’s blog. It is all about the latest gadgets and technology used. I’m keeping the link to his blog in my blogroll because I want to know what is new as fast as it comes out.

Operation Deepwater

Karen | news | Saturday, 16 June 2007

“Deepwater is fundamentally about the Coast Guard’s ability to save lives, secure our maritime borders and protect our marine environment.”

Adm. Thad Allen
Coast Guard Commandant
(Dec. 6, 2006)

Stacy was telling me about how the Coast Guard is developing new platforms, such as the National Security Cutter (NSC). The results will be safer, more effective and more efficient equipment for the fleet. I hope so! That’s my baby girl going out on those boats and helos!

Woonboot

Karen | attractions | Monday, 11 June 2007

[photopress:300px_Woonboot_amsterdam.jpg,full,pp_image] This is the website for an unusual housing project. Hubby saw something on tv about it and I have been trying to find out more information. It is in Holland so I asked Mark about it because he lives in Holland. He found  information but it’s in Dutch and I will need him to translate it so I’ll be adding to this post later! Enjoy the picture in the meantime.

Winding Through Indiana

Karen | travel | Saturday, 09 June 2007

We drove up to Michigan City and donated money to the Blue Chip Casino. I should say the hubby donated to the casino and I donated to the Outlet Mall. I got a couple pair of crop pants and a new top. Now I have a few new things to wear this summer.

While Lynn was in the casino, I drove around Michigan City and ran right into the Indiana Dunes. I forgot that we were that close. I think we need to make another trip and go to the Dunes for a picnic.

Then I drove around the Indiana State Prison. That was interesting. It is pretty old and looks like a set for a movie.

Then I drove through some residential areas that had beautiful large homes. They were well taken care of and had beautiful landscaped yards.

When we were coming home we got to LaPorte and had to take a detour. The town was having a parade. We never did find out what the parade was celebrating. We tried to follow the detour signs and wound up in a bank parking lot. We weren’t the only ones who were making circles in the bank’s parking lot. LOL We continued on our way as we guessed which way to turn and hoped we were making the right choices. We finally found the highway again and continued home. It only took us an hour longer. Our poor dogs were ready to get outside by the time we got home.
