I called mom to see how her vacation was going out in Washington and to complain. I was teasing and told her that her dog taught my two dogs to bark at the door. They never did it before! LOL
Mom said that she and her two sisters were headed to look at the new Narrows Bridge in Tacoma. I didn’t know they built a new bridge!
Construction began in 2002 and was expected to cost $800 million dollars.
This is a landmark project. With a center length span of 2,800 feet, the new bridge represents the longest suspension bridge to be built in the United States since the Verrazano Narrows was opened in 1964.
Mom said they are using both bridges now. One is for eastbound traffic and the other is for westbound. They are hoping that by having another bridge it will alleviate some traffic jams.
The existing Tacoma Narrows Bridge was designed to carry 60,000 cars daily and now it carries approximately 90,000 a day.
I have an update for you on the Falcons that were taken from San Francisco’s Bay Bridge. The birds were removed from their nest to save them from harm.
I have enjoyed Youtube and all it has to offer. I’ve been talking a lot about travel on this blog so I decided I would see what Youtube had to offer in the way of travel videos.
I found this video that shows pictures of places from all over the world. They are beautiful pictures of beautiful places. If they don’t make you want to travel then I don’t think anything can.
While traveling down south, I noticed all the outlet malls. The parking lots at those places were packed with cars. This past weekend, I went to an outlet mall up at Michigan City.
The thing that I found that most of them had in common were that the prices weren’t that much different from what I found in the regular stores. I wish that I’d had access to PriceForSure.com. PriceForSure.com enables me, as a shopper, to compare prices.
PriceForSure.com lets you compare prices on all types of merchandise. They even have a section where you can look at an automobile. In fact, PriceForSure.com is the best place to comparison shop for automotive and related accessories. You can choose from parts and tools and even choose your wheels at PriceForSure.com.
They have so many categories of merchandise and then there are categories under those! There are 20 categories under the book section! You can compare prices on shoes and clothes and even household items like blenders.
This online site is good for merchandisers because it gets their product out onto the web where consumers, like me, can find the best value. Their web-tv makes it possible for merchants to have a live feed showing off their item. That makes it really appealing to someone who is trying to narrow down a selection.
Check out this press release and see what all the excitement is about!

When we visited Atlantic City, we knew we had to buy some saltwater taffy. I just saw a segment on the Food Channel and they showed the shop where we bought our candy. That was Joseph Fralinger’s shop on the Atlantic City boardwalk.
I researched the history of salt water taffy and discovered that no one really knows how it got its name.
Salt water taffy was originally produced and marketed in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area beginning in the late 19th century. I had no idea we were walking to a part of history!
The origins of the name are unknown. It could be because the recipe for the candy contains both salt and water. The most popular, although probably apocryphal, story concerns a candy-store owner, Mr. David Bradley, whose shop was flooded during a major storm in 1883. His entire stock of taffy was soaked with salty Atlantic City water. When a young girl asked if he had any taffy for sale, he is said to have offered some “salt water taffy.” The girl was delighted, She bought the candy and proudly walked down to the beach to show her friends. Mr. Bradley’s mother was in the back and heard the exchange. She loved the name and so Salt Water Taffy was born.
Whatever the origins, I am glad that it was introduced. It is very popular in our house!Â
Please take a look at the poll that I installed in my sidebar and help me decide whether or not to install Vista on my laptop. I’ve heard mixed reactions about Vista. Please let me know what you think of Windows [tag]Vista[/tag] by making a quick vote on the poll in my sidebar. Thanks.
By the way, it was so easy to make a poll at Vizu!
Two peregrine falcons laid their precious eggs under the San Francisco Bay bridge. Scientists and other concerned parties were worried that once the chicks hatched and tried to learn to fly, they would be hit and run over by a car. Biologists took 3 eggs out of the nest and put them in an incubator. You can read about how mad the parent falcons got over at Cnn online.
Update on Falcon eggs 7/25/2007
One of three peregrine falcon eggs rescued from a perilous perch on the Bay Bridge has hatched and the chick is “doing great,” ornithologists said Monday.
The chick hatched Friday in an incubator at UC Santa Cruz and may soon be placed in a falcon nest of “foster birds,” which would raise it as one of their own.
The chick inside a second egg died of complications shortly after hatching. The third egg was “nonviable,” said Glenn Stewart, an ornithologist with the Predatory Bird Research Group at the university.
[photopress:veggie.jpg,full,pp_image]We all have excuses as to why we don’t eat enough vegetables. We are always on the go so why don’t they make on the go food? The fact is that daily servings of vegetables are so important in how we feel. The 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans says many adults lack seven essential nutrients — from calcium to fiber — and certain groups of people are missing even more. Some think that just because they are adults , it is no longer necessary to make sure to get enough calcium into our system. Most adults require 1200 milligrams to maintain good health.
Fiber is another thing that is necessary in keeping our innards healthy. If people were to get enough fiber, the population would have less intestinal trouble.
Magnesium contributes to bone strength; promotes peak immunity; and normalizes muscle, nerve, and heart function. That is a lot! I wonder why we never hear much about needing magnesium.
Vitamin E is found in fat that we try to avoid if we are dieting. Not all fat makes us fat. Sunflower seeds and almonds are rich in vitamin E and it doesn’t take very much to give us the daily requirements needed to combat the icky’s in our world like air pollution and second hand smoke.
We all know that vitamin C is essential but how much do we know about vitamin A? What about Potassium?
Surely, we would be a healthier society if we made sure our bodies received the proper amount of nutrients.
I have come across a way to get the necessary nutrients without having to create a spreadsheet and figure out how to get all of the food needed into our system to meet the daily requirements. It is a high-end daily nutritional supplement designed to let me Drink My Daily Veggies! I have decided to use it in some daily cooking to get my vitamins into my routine each day. I found some great recipes on the Drink Your Veggies website. There is a yummy recipe for meatloaf and one for vegetable dip. Each packet can be used in common dishes like mac and cheese and other mainstay types of dishes.
I’m anxious to get going on this and start feeling better because I know I’ll be getting vitamins into my diet in this convenient way.

I love the Stephanie Plum series of books written by Janet Evanovich. They are so funny. I can see Stephanie doing some of the crazy things in the book. I laugh as I am reading. The latest in the Stephanie Plum series came out in June. It is number 13 and is called Lean Mean Thirteen. I can’t wait to read it.
