When I was in Branson, Missouri, I saw the Osmonds show. It is amazing the amount of talent that family has. The teenagers are performing now. Southwest Airlines Co. is sticking with its unusual system of letting passengers find their own seats instead of going to one that’s been assigned to them. They say that most of their passengers tell them they like it that way. I’m not sure that I do. I know that when I flew Southwest I stood in a line because I wanted to be one of the first to pick my seat. Do you like open seating?
This is the time of year when there are Oktoberfests everywhere! When I think of Octoberfest I think of Germany. We have a very pretty beer stein from Germany. We were there in August, I think, so we didn’t take part in the festival. The Oktoberfest runs through Oct. 7. Last year, the festival attracted more than 6 million visitors, who downed about 12.9 million pints of beer!

When we visited the new casino in New Buffalo, I was surprised to see that it had an ice cream parlor. It was called Last Licks. I thought that was a great name. The casino also had a Starbucks.

I was mistaken when I said that the casino we visited today was four months old. It just opened! The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians opened the Four Winds Casino Resort on August 2, 2007.
On the Four Winds website, is the description of the beautiful casino as one situated on a beautiful landscape. This is certainly true. We drove a winding road to get to the casino. The road reminded me of when we drove to the Biltmore Mansion in North Carolina. I venture to guess that deer can be observed in the twilight hours in the wooded areas we passed on the winding road. The Four Winds Casino Resort is off of I-94 at Michigan Exit 1 in New Buffalo, Michigan and offers 130,000 square feet of gaming space. It also features a 165-room suite-hotel, six restaurants, entertainment bars and retail shops.
