Romance For Us
When Lynn and I were just about to celebrate our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, he decided we should go out to eat. We took Greg and went to Olive Garden. Lynn carried in a large rectangular flower box. When I opened the box, it was like something I’ve read in Romance Novels. He had gone to a local florist and asked them to make a Hawaiian lei. It was beautiful. It was made with fresh flowers and smelled wonderful. I didn’t know why he had given me a lei until I lifted it and began admiring its beauty. Underneath the lei were two plane ticket to Hawaii! I was shocked.
I had dreamed of going to Hawaii and now we were going. It was everything I had dreamed of. When we arrived at our hotel our rooms were not ready. We were bumped to a first class chalet beside the ocean! It was amazing to walk out the door of our room and be on the ocean. We enjoyed romantic evenings sitting outside our private chalet. Each morning we decided what to see and do that day. One afternoon we spent a few hours watching the whales out in the distance. It was a special time of the year when the whales were very visible. Little did Lynn know that when he made our reservations that it was whale watching season. We felt so relaxed as we sat on the rocks and watched for their tails to pop out and splash the water. Lynn had to practically drag me away.
The most romantic evening was spent at a luau where we watched a beautiful Hawaiian dancer dance her native dance against the black sky. The entire vacation was spent remembering why we got married and relaxing with each other with no pressure of the outside world. It was amazing. I think we should go back for our thirty fifth anniversary in two years. Until then, I will live vicariously through and enjoy romance novels from Mills and Boone Co. UK. They are always in exotic settings and make me anxious for the day when we go back.
