1812 Re-enactment
I love this cool fall weather. This past weekend was too hot. Today is much better at 64 degrees. I was thinking about all the people who had already closed their pools for the winter. They probably wished they could take a dip and get cool.
It is time to get in that last camping trip of the season. It is so much fun to camp in the fall. I like to walk on the trails and hear the leaves crunch.
This is the time, each year, that the Mississinewa Reservoir celebrates the Missessinewa battle of 1812. The reservoir is close to twenty minutes from our home.
Participants dress in the clothing of the era. They have activities such as musket demonstrations that allow each visitor to step back in time. Military re-enactments allow visitors to appreciate the hard life and dedication our soldiers had. The participants of the battle were the soldiers and the Little Miami Indians.
Kudos to the participants who wore the dress of that era. They must have been sweating under their wool uniforms and while wearing their leather shoes.
