Students Learn While Traveling

Karen | travel | Tuesday, 23 October 2007

One of the most exciting things a young person can do is use their time to learn while traveling. Hemisphere Education Travel has been setting up student travel programs for years. They offer educational packages that allow students to gain learning experiences that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. Consider student travel for your child. International as well as US educational travel tour packages are available.

Learning while traveling is something we all do whether we are conscious of it or not. We take in the sights and smells of the places we visit. We gain knowledge of culture and diversity in our world when we travel. It is good to know the area where we live and it is even better to set out to learn about our world.

Amish in Bathing Suits

Karen | news | Tuesday, 23 October 2007

A few Saturdays ago, I headed to Shipshewanna to find a quilt holder for the wall. I had in my head what I wanted and I was on a mission to find it. My mom had purchased a quilt holder a few months earlier and I was hoping to find one just like it.

It was a gorgeous day to wander in and out of the shops. The bees had not made their yearly arrival. They can be pretty pesky.

I found the quilt holder I was looking for and it was at the same price mom paid for hers. I was thrilled.

I noticed that they are building a water park on the main road into Shipshewanna. It strikes me as an odd combination. I wonder if the Amish are allowed to wear bathing suits. Hmmm. I need to check on that.

Furniture Purchased Online

Karen | Important | Tuesday, 23 October 2007

When we traveled to North Carolina, last spring, I saw so many furniture stores. Knowing how I love furniture, my husband would not even take our car off the interstate for fear of what I might buy! I like to look! It doesn’t mean I will buy. I suppose he didn’t want to take a chance on having to figure out how to get something on top of the car to bring it home. LOL

These days, I am more likely to purchase furniture online. I like to avoid the hassles of shopping and traffic. It is easy to get information about so many different products and it is not as confusing when you can sit in the comfort of your own home to look things over. Oak Beds are one of the newest lines available from Time4Sleep.co.uk. It is not necessary to drive all around the country to find a special piece of furniture. Check with Time4Sleep. You will appreciate their great customer service.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Karen | news | Tuesday, 23 October 2007

Where is everyone celebrating Thanksgiving? Are you going to Grandma’s house or are you celebrating in your own home.

I have had Thanksgiving dinner at our house for a few years now. My husband enjoys cooking. We sorta pull together and put on a big spread of food. Other members of our family bring other dishes so the house doesn’t get too hot from all the baking.

Do you have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner?

Manufactured Homes Offer A Choice

Karen | news | Monday, 22 October 2007

When Lynn and I retire, I would like to move to an addition in our town that is made up of manufactured homes. The community has sidewalks and small yards. I want less to care for as I get older. I love my 2 1/2 acres here but someday I would like to sit back and drink coffee and not worry about mowing grass.

Many seniors that we know have sold their places and live in manufactured homes. Some live in manufactured homes in Arizona and Florida too. The ones I have been in have been absolutely gorgeous. They even have fireplaces. There are differences in the qualities of manufactured homes. My niece and her husband recently purchased one and they paid extra for better windows and frame. It pays to do your homework as in everything, you get what you pay for! She and her husband have a beautiful, well made manufactured home.

Southern Indiana

Karen | travel | Monday, 22 October 2007

Greg traveled from Muncie to Indianapolis and back. He also traveled from Muncie to Richmond. He said the curvy road would be a great one for motorcycle travel. The leaves have begun to change to reds and oranges.

It was a few years ago that Lynn and I rode our motorcycles through southern Indiana. We followed the Ohio river. The road we took were very winding. It was fun to zoom around the curves on our cycles. One hairpin curve had me using everything I had learned in my motorcycle safety course. I made it but I was sweating!

No Matter Where You Live

Karen | Important | Monday, 22 October 2007

You know, it doesn’t matter where you live, it is important to have proper utility connections. Our friends always have trouble with their phone every time it rains. My mother in law gets so angry because her bathtub fills with gray water when her neighborhood has a heavy rain. Septic tank situations have been a sore subject with her. There is a sewage treatment system that replaces a septic tank and soakaway / drainfields.  I hope Biokube gives her the system that stops all the trouble she has when it rains. Older septic tanks with brick walls allow too much ground water to enter the tank and are just not suitable. The system that Biokube has can work with an old system or a new one. It doesnt matter. The biological way that Biokube’s Biotank treats sewage is what makes it work!

Is It OK to Hug?

Karen | news | Friday, 19 October 2007

With Postiecon coming soon, I have been thinking about something. I am a hugger. Not everyone likes to be hugged. I am shy and so I try to figure out who are huggers and who are not. I would want to crawl back in my shy shell before I would ever make anyone feel uncomfortable.

I found an interesting post on a blog. This guy gave specifics on hugs. It was from a guy angle but still gave me some insight on proper hugging.

Where Would You Go?

Karen | travel | Friday, 19 October 2007

I am curious. If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would that be? and why?

I would love to travel to Australia. I would only go if I could stay with my Internet friend Sally. I want to see Australia through her eyes. I do not want to see the touristy places.

Sally would know where the snakes live. I am also afraid of Tasmanian devils and other animals relative to Australia.

Finding An Apartment in Austin

Karen | Important | Friday, 19 October 2007

When my sister graduated, we went to attend the ceremony. We looked around the area and fell in love with Texas all over again. I would love to live in Texas!

There are so many areas around Austin that are nice that it certainly would be difficult to choose a place to rent. I would rely on a company who knowsapartments in Austin Texas! Simple Search makes it easy! They have a website where you can put in information to narrow down your search. You can search by area, whether a complex allows pets, schools, senior living and many other criteria. After you narrow down the choices you will be shown floor plans, maps and other information to look over. They do make it simple! They would love to help everyone move to Austin!
