Did you watch Extreme Makeover on May 17? This weeks episode profiled an Indianapolis family, the McFarlands. This deserving family was chosen because of their efforts to give back to their community. Though they certainly have problems of their own, they never fail to provide a place for the youth in their area to hang. They are always willing to give a hand when someone needs help. They are the example of what caring is all about.

Today is the busiest travel day during the Christmas holiday season. Years ago, it was rare for people to live away from their families. Most people married and stayed in their local area to raise a family. Jobs were plentiful as most were family owned businesses such as hardware stores, farms, bakeries, etc. Being together for Christmas meant driving across town to grandma’s house. Things have certainly changed.

With the introduction of big box stores, many small businesses were not able to compete and they didn’t stay in business. Young people looked for different options for their employment. People began investing in college careers in technology fields. After college, many were discovering that to get that sought after job meant being willing to re-locate. This meant that people were moving away. Finding a good paying job often meant and still requires moving.

Finding themselves in a new location left many people lonely. They didn’t have family to help them find a special someone. Luckily, the dating scene was introduced to online services. I am amazed at the amount of people I talk to who met their special someone online! It is a wonderful way to met someone. When you use Zoom On Dating you are able to check out many different dating services. Their website lets you compare pricing and services of each company in order to choose the one that is right for you. You can narrow down the type of dating service you need. They offer dating sites that meet specific needs. Narrow down your search by using niche services that concentrate on things like, religious affiliations, regional preferences, single parents and others.

Zoom On Dating has tips on making your online dating experience safe. As you start this new year, let them guide you in your search for that special someone. Happy holidays and safe travels everyone.

While traveling, I have wondered if my ancestors traveled and visited the places I have visited. Did they marvel at the same waterfall I had the pleasure of seeing? I will never know. I want to keep a record of my travels so that my ancestors will be able to enjoy my wandering as much as I have.

There is an exceptional software program available that allows us to record our thoughts in an exciting and convenient way. I learned of Dragon Naturally Speaking from my friend Heather who blogs at Boating In Beautiful British Columbia . She wanted to find a way to record her father’s life stories so she would have them as a permanent diary to share with future generations. Watch the video to see how she and her father have benefited from this wonderful software. After a few adjustments to get her father situated, she was able to type at $150 Words Per Minute for $99!.

My friend Brett knows more about this wonderful software than I could possibly share so let me, let him tell you how much this software can record the history of generations and preserve great stories for those generations to come.

From Brett:
The above video is not the typical Dragon NaturallySpeaking video. It was created by a blogger named Heather from British Columbia. She writes a blog called Boating in Beautiful British Columbia.

In the video that she has created, she talks about Dragon NaturallySpeaking. She talks about using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. In fact in the video, she is using Dragon NaturallySpeaking while she’s talking about it but you don’t quite realize that until the video is about halfway done.

The thing that’s REALLY interesting about this video, is not the fact that Heather is using the software and it’s not the fact the software works for her so much as HOW she chooses to use it. She took Dragon NaturallySpeaking and sat down with her father who is 95 years old. She spent a few minutes with him getting the software tuned to his voice so that the computer recognizes his sentences and words. Then she’s lets her father tell some of his great stories to the computer which transcribes everything that he says.

You can tell just by watching the video and listening to her father that he really does have some interesting stories to tell. I have a feeling that I could probably listen to the stories myself quite a bit, enjoying them immensely. And that too is not really the cool thing about this video. Although I’d love to hear her father tells more stories, the COOL THING is that she’s using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to capture a piece of her family’s oral tradition.

I can think of hundreds of different stories that my family has shared with me over the years that have not been documented. Our family is slowly losing some of those great stories and unfortunately, as we are losing some of our family members. We survivors don’t know all of the stories ourselves that our parents or grandparents or our great grandparents knew. But this video shows that you can use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to help capture some of those great stories that your parents and grandparents and great grandparents have probably told you dozens of times.

It’s something that we don’t always think about, but in a lot of ways those stories are some of the most cherished memories that we will walk away with from our family. And the sad thing is that our family cannot Be with us forever, but their memories can live on and this is where Dragon NaturallySpeaking really shows us its value. It’s true for $99 you can use Dragon NaturallySpeaking and you can type 150 words a minute. That’s a pretty good value for the software. It’s not too expensive and the benefit is tangible.

Now, you can get a useful tool at any computer store or Home Depot or Lowes, and if you don’t know how to use it well, then it really doesn’t matter what you pay for it. It is a waste of money.

Heather shows us a great way to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to capture some of the most valuable information and stories from her father that she might ever be able to record not only for herself but for her daughter and her grandchildren someday and great-grandchildren and many other branches of the family even.

So that’s just another great reason why they Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a pretty cool piece of software. $99 could help you capture your family history easily and even make it indexable too, so that you can search it from your computer. That’s just amazing.

My name Brett Bumeter, and I write about Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I’ve been writing reviews about it for almost 2 years now. You could say that I’m sold on the software, and I hope that this article and this video helps show you the value of using it as well.

Sincerely,
Brett Bumeter
Softduit Media
www.softduit.com

PS this article is about 630 words long and it took me five minutes to write and another minute or two to edit with Dragon Naturally Speaking 10. Even with editing time that’s close to 100 words per minute!

I just got off the phone with a friend who was telling me about her week so far. It seems as though her son is undecided as to what to do with his life. She was hoping that by his senior year of high school, he would have an idea of a field he would like to study. I recommended that she have him look into Sherman College. It is one of the best chiropractic colleges. The college holds full accreditation from the Council on Chiropractic Education, and its graduates practice all across the country and around the world. Chiropractics is a rewarding career. Sherman College is located in Spartanburg, a beautiful area of South Carolina. I keep pushing for my kids to study in the south so that someday I will have someone to stay with when I vacation in the Carolinas.

The fish are yummy but the only way I know how to cook them is to fry them. We are trying to eat healthier and fried foods are a no no. Does anyone know how to bake or grill bluegill?

My husband knows how to grill large fish. In fact, grilled salmon is one of his best dishes and one of my favorite foods. Do you have a special recipe that you use to grill salmon? Friends love to be invited to our house when hubby fixes salmon on the grill. He uses a secret concoction of spices along with lemon and it is mouthwatering delicious. It is so good that he should really enter his recipe in the Great American Seafood cook off. He would love to get down and dirty and show his stuff! Wouldn’t that be fun! We could have t-shirts made up that say, “fishermen have skill with the grill”. Seriously, there is no better source of nutrition than seafood from here in the US. You know that it is fresh and delicious when it comes from our nation’s marine fisheries.

Don’t miss the Fifth Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off Aug 2-3 in New Orleans! Cheer on the great chefs as they show what stuff they are made of. There will be cooking demonstrations and challenges as chefs battle in the culinary challenge of the century.

She wanted her glasses by the time we left for our vacation this weekend. I don’t think that they will be finished re-doing her lenses in time. I wish I had known about ZenniOptical.com before she bought new glasses. She would probably be a happy camper right now. Zenni doesn’t have a middle man and so you can get great prices on quality glasses. I heard that Fox News had a great story about them. You know if you hear the name Zenni on Fox news, they must be newsworthy. In these times of spending all our hard earned money on fuel, we need to buy the things we need as inexpensively as possible. Check out ZenniOptical.com.
